Storytellers Macon Board of Directors

  • Koryn Young

Executive Director: Her passion for storytelling started at the young age of 2 when she realized that words matter. She is still learning the fine art, but will take any opportunity to speak in front of a group with a microphone.

Originally from San Dimas, CA, she moved to Staten Island, NY and chilled out there for a bit while she became an adult. Finding her grown up home in Macon, GA brought her a sense of community, and she previously held leadership roles with the Magnolia Soap Box Derby, Bragg Jam Concert Crawl, and developed the Men of Intown Macon Calendar. She is a 2012 Leadership Macon alum and continues to volunteer with many local events, simply because they are cool.

When she is not planning events or hosting with Storytellers Macon, you can find her working as a wedding and event planner, porch sitting with friends and neighbors, or hanging with her main man, Nathan.

  • Julia Morrison

Fine Arts Director: Julia Morrison is a producer and communicator who seeks to activate the civic imagination with arts-based activities and amplify more voices. She’s a fierce believer that artists and culture makers are a driving force towards positive social change. Julia is a Virginia native, born just outside D.C., and landed in Macon working at the intersections between downtown and campus as the Director of Arts Marketing and Community Engagement for Mercer University. This means she represents a number of vibrant arts organizations and venues around the city, to include The Grand Opera House, McEachern Arts Center, McDuffie Center for Strings, Townsend School of Music, Tattnall Square Center for the Arts and associated clients all over town. She loves passionately representing all forms of the arts, from bass players to Broadway to ballerinas.

Outside of work, Julia serves on the board of Storytellers Macon as Fine Arts Director, Macon Little Theatre as Secretary, the Downtown Macon Community Association as Chair, Macon Pride, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Heart of Georgia.

Why storytelling? It’s not just about the telling, but about the listening. More listening will change the world.

  • Ansley Booker

Community Outreach Coordinator: Ansley Booker, Ph.D. is a native of Eatonton, Georgia, known for its many dairy farms, Olympic gold medalists, and acclaimed authors/storytellers. Growing up in a small town full of dichotomies, Ansley was also a dichotomy. Her father shared with her the love of the outdoors and nature; her mother shared with her the love of pageantry and royalty. Between animals and easy-bake ovens, mud, and crowns, Ansley grew into a woman with a true passion for STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics disciplines and curriculums) earning a degree in biology from Georgia Southern University, an M.S. in pharmacy from the University of Georgia, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. She has translated her education and experience into a passion for developing STEM curriculums for high school and college students, as well as serving as a mentor and volunteer to ensure that young girls know that they can pave a path to success through STEM. She currently is the Inaugural Director of Mercer University’s Office of Diversion and Inclusion Initiatives. Lastly, Ansley is a graduate of Leadership Macon 2019 and Urban Leadership Academy Cohort 3.

Whether one is piecing together their experiences for the first time, connecting with others by sharing their stories, or helping another tell their story, Storytellers Macon creates many uplifting opportunities for Maconites of all backgrounds.”

  • Mariah Gandy

Mariah is a Louisiana girl living as a Georgia peach since 2016. She has dabbled in storytelling by way of creative writing. She is on the StoryTellers Macon Board working on marketing and branding.

When she’s not working hard as founder of Will and Work, a Comprehensive Creative Company; Jill of All Trades; Social Media Manager, Virtual Assistant, Product/Brand Photographer and Children’s Director at New City East Side; Campus Liaison with Caring Solutions and more, she’s most likely hanging out with her Teddyies (hubby Teddye and daughter Teddie with new addition Charlie), sunning outside with her two fur babies, or downtown grabbing lunch or coffee with a friend or two!
